Michele Singer:

What made you want to enroll in the 2019 Inaugural West Broward Leadership Program?

I wanted to enroll in the Inaugural West Broward Leadership Program because I had heard so much about leadership programs from other people in different Chambers in the past. I know how much they learned from it, how many contacts they made and the friendships they still have today from it. I wanted to learn about the city my business is in and meet others who started like I did.

What was your favorite program day?

It’s hard to say what my favorite Leadership day was because I learned so much from each of them. Believe it or not, some days I learned about business, other days I learned about different opportunities that I could pursue and one day was so close to what was happening in my personal life that it was eye opening and inspiring. It was also nice to meet other business owners and see what they do and how they started.

Why do you recommend enrolling in the 2020 West Broward Leadership Program?

I would recommend participating in the upcoming Leadership Program to learn more about the community, government and what resources are out there for your business. The information you will receive and the people you’ll meet are opportunities and experiences you don’t get on a regular basis.

Were you able to gain new contacts and clients from being in this program?

As a member of the Leadership Program, I was able to meet new contacts and the opportunity to possibly get business from them in the future. I attended socials from meeting these people which in turn could lead to new business as well. You hope for new business all the time, but when I signed up I also hoped to make new friends, learn from others and hope they referred me to people needing my services.

This program showed me that with hard work and dedication you can accomplish anything. Stick to your dreams, work hard and don’t give up. Everyone has their moments of wondering if they made the right career choice and I’m no different. Everyone I met seems to love what they do, has been challenged and succeeded. They gave me confidence and encouragement to continue doing what I’m doing. Being a business owner is hard work and yet they made it look easy, their stories were all similar and they had smiles on their faces. That’s what I remember from each Leadership class.

Diane Grant:

What made you want to enroll in the 2019 Inaugural West Broward Leadership Program?

As president I was presented with the idea of participating in order to see how the first year would work. I wasn’t sure I would be able to dedicate the time. I am so glad that I did. I knew the opportunities were enormous and have been pleasantly surprised at how much we learned from visiting the different local companies and agencies and how much we learned from one another.

What was your favorite program day?

My favorite day was the visit to Everglades Holiday Park and Weekley Asphalt and Paving. The day was fun and interesting. It was great to learn how these successful, longtime, local businesses started and what makes them tick. I am also very much looking forward to the FBI visit as well.

Why do you recommend enrolling in the 2020 West Broward Leadership Program?

This leadership Program allows an opportunity for networking on a smaller scale, it gives us small businesses a chance to learn from one another and develop a bond.

Tracy Schuldiner:

What made you want to enroll in the 2019 Inaugural West Broward Leadership Program?

I wanted to expand my horizons in regards to the businesses and government activity in the Southwest region of Broward County as it is an important part of our County.

How has this program added knowledge and resources to your personal and professional goals?

Though I have been through a few Leadership programs, I have learned new information from this program.  I have learned more about my hometown of Davie and the surrounding town of Cooper City in addition to services offered to Broward County residents.   I am grateful to be part of the inaugural class and to make lasting friendships.

Why do you recommend enrolling in the 2020 West Broward Leadership Program?

Participants will learn more about the County as a whole.  West Broward is rich with resources.

What was your favorite teachable moment from the speakers?

 I liked Marty Kiar’s talk.

Another thing I like about the leadership program is the early release.  I have been through Leadership Fort Lauderdale and Leadership Broward and they start extremely early and end by 5 at the earliest and it is just a really long day. You get to a point where you are not really listening or engaged.  Knowing that the program stops at 4:00 or so, really helps to keep the energy flowing.
